Your matchmaker knows you personally and is also familiar with other partner-seekers in your region. This forms the first search round: candidates from your matchmaker’s personal database. The matchmaker knows both parties and can explain why she believes you are a good match.

Your matchmaker doesn’t just search within her own area but also shares your profile with colleagues in neighboring regions. All our matchmakers personally know their clients. Mens & Relatie is a large organization, and matchmakers at the head office conduct nationwide searches, supported when necessary by our relationship psychologist.

This means we mediate on three levels: local, regional, and national.

The Partner Proposal

From the moment matchmaking begins, a nationwide search is conducted weekly to find a suitable partner. Sometimes success happens quickly, but it can also take a few months before a suitable candidate is proposed.

A partner proposal is made only when there is a strong chance of a mutual connection. Each proposal is first discussed with you over the phone by your consultant. Both parties receive each other’s profile and contact information. You’ll then arrange a time for your first meeting.

After three meetings, we would love to hear how things went. Feel free to call your matchmaker, who is often available outside office hours. We are eager to hear about your experiences. If needed, we will immediately begin searching for another suitable candidate. Providing feedback on a partner proposal also gives us an opportunity to offer personal advice and dating tips.

Additional Options

If, after six months, the right partner has not yet been found, we can expand the search beyond our database.

First, we can place your profile on the Mens & Relatie website, allowing individuals who are not yet registered to respond. Additionally, your matchmaker can collaborate with other accredited matchmakers in the Netherlands or even internationally if desired.

Finally, we can think outside the box and actively advertise on your behalf. Whether we choose a regional or national newspaper, or online platforms, depends on who you are and what you’re looking for. Each channel targets a specific audience. In consultation with you, we gradually expand the search radius, step by step, if necessary.

The goal of the first date is simply to break the ice (refer to Date Talk Cards Series 1).

Second Date
The second date focuses on getting to know each other better by doing something fun together (refer to Date Talk Cards Series 2).

Third Date
The third date is about exploring whether a beautiful life together might be possible (refer to Date Talk Cards Series 3).
Keyword: Vision for the future.
Success factors: Depth, emotional connection, and giving each other space.

After Three Dates
After these three meetings, we would love to hear how things have progressed. Feel free to call your matchmaker, who is available even outside office hours. We are very curious about your experiences. If needed, we will immediately start searching again for a suitable match.

The Phases of Dating

Phase One: The Dating Phase
The first phase, lasting approximately six to twelve weeks, focuses on building a connection. The primary goal is to establish a bond.

Phase Two: The Romantic Phase
The second phase is marked by growing emotional intimacy and aims to win each other’s hearts. Patience is crucial in this phase. Move step by step toward a lasting, loving relationship. The online Success Coaching Program offers online seminars to explain and provide theoretical support on how you can influence the outcome.

Phase Three: The Physical Intimacy Phase
The third phase, also known as the seduction phase, introduces physical intimacy. Romance evolves into passion and desire, highlighting the difference between friendship and a romantic relationship. This phase typically lasts three to nine months and culminates in a commitment.

During this commitment, you choose to invest in building a lasting connection. This also includes forming a relationship with each other’s family and friends.

Building a Successful Life Together
For a happy and successful relationship, discussing practical matters such as finances, family, and household responsibilities is essential. Regularly align your schedules, discuss what is important to both of you, and prioritize spending time on those things. Make room for each other, take care of yourself, and nurture the relationship.

Part 3 of The Coaching Program: Tailored Support
You’ll receive the Success Analysis questionnaire, developed during Drs. Liselotte Visser’s doctoral research, to map out your challenges and relationship strengths. The results are presented as a personalized advice report, which is discussed with you in a phone consultation.

Based on the outcomes of the Success Analysis, we offer you a Success Intervention if necessary. This tailored coaching typically combines online coaching with three personal online sessions to increase your chances of success.
